Men's to Women's Jeans Size Conversion

Thrifting men's jeans? You're in the right place. Men's jeans are sized by waist measurement in inches — women's sizes are typically labeled differently. Use this chart to find your fit with confidence.

Know Your Tomboy Size. Because confidence starts with knowing exactly how you fit.

Men's Waist (inches)	Men's Jean Size	Women's Size (US)	Women's Waist (inches)
26"	26	0–2 / XS	26–27"
27"	27	2–4 / XS–S	27–28"
28"	28	4–6 / S	28–29"
29"	29	6–8 / S–M	29–30"
30"	30	8 / M	30–31"
31"	31	8–10 / M	31–32"
32"	32	10 / M–L	32–33"
33"	33	10–12 / L	33–34"
34"	34	12 / L	34–35"
36"	36	12–14 / L–XL	36–37"
38"	38	14–16 / XL	38–39"
40"	40	16–18 / 1X	40–41"

Pro Tip: Sizing can vary by brand and cut. When in doubt, measure your natural waist and compare to the men's waist size directly — that's your most accurate guide. Men's jeans tend to run true to waist measurement, which makes thrifting easier once you know your number.

Size Up: Vintage jeans and most men's denim contain little to no stretch. Unlike modern women's jeans, there is no give once you put them on. We always recommend sizing up at least one size to ensure a comfortable, wearable fit — especially if you are between sizes.
